Resources

Are you using the MISO Method of Action Research with your students? Are you an International Baccalaureate school with the Diploma or Career-Related Programme? If the answer is yes to either question, then you are already using CBK Associates resources. Cathryn Berger Kaye came up with the MISO method in her early years of designing service learning materials and process; she was brought into the IBO as a lead co-author of the current CAS Guide (Creativity, Activity, Service within the Diploma Programme). We are delighted to provide a wide array of resources to advance your work and those of your colleagues. Do stay in touch and let us know what you find most advantageous, and what else you need to move forward!

BOOKS

We have three books that provide extensive resources for educators and inspiring ideas for engaging youth in both learning and purposeful action provide. All of our books are published by Free Spirit Publishing.

Cathryn Berger Kaye has also written a series of Kid’s Guides (2007 – 2009) tackling the subjects of climate change and global warming, hunger and homeless, reading, protecting and caring for animals.

  • A Kid’s Guide to Hunger and Homelessness: How to Take Action! [PDF]

In partnership with What Kids Can Do, we also helped create an international movement of student-created photo essay books in which students worked as a team, photographing and writing about what made their community special. It is called In Our Global Village and was inspired by a photo essay book Barbara Cervone, Ed.D., created with secondary students in the remote Kambi Ya Simba, Tanzania (In Our Village: Kambi ya Simba through the Eyes of Its Youth). The project website includes curriculum guides, publishing tips, and “flip” books of all of the books published.
